Network: download TCP dump

A TCP dump allows you to investigate communication problems of the Octalarm alarm dialler with your network.

• Click Settings.
• Click Network: internet check.
• Click Download file.

The downloaded tcp_dump (compressed file) is under Downloads on your computer. This dump contains up to 5MB of recent network traffic from the Octalarm alarm dialler’s Ethernet and GSM connections. You can extract the dump using an open source zip programme, such as 7zip. Open and examine the extracted files with, for example, Wireshark.

Note: the data packets to and from TCP port 80 are missing from the TCP dump.

Good to know: for the other network internet check settings, remote setup works the same as setup at the dialler itself. See Settings|General|Network: internet check for further explanation.
