The alarm dialler can send Email notifications via the mobile internet and Ethernet connection.

Activate supplied SIM card

To use the GSM module, you can activate the SIM card provided during onboarding. This allows the user to subscribe to the all-in service Octalarm Connect.

Good to know: if you did not opt for Octalarm Connect during onboarding, you can still activate this all-in service via Settings|Octalarm Connect or via Remote setup. See The portal: portal.octalarm.com|Remote setup (global) and Remote setup (local) for further explanation.

When using Octalarm Connect, the SMTP server is set to Octalarm Portal by default.

Using your own SMTP server

If you do not plan to set up your own SMTP server, you can skip this section.

  • Go to Settings.
  • In the navigation, scroll to Email.
  • Click Edit.
  • Select Own VoIP server and enter the details. These settings depend on your provider. Customise Email settings shows you what information you need. For this information, please refer to your system administrator and/or provider.
  • Click Save.

Component:

By default, this is enabled. Clicking the tick will disable the component. This prevents you from sending Email notifications.

Tip: to maintain redundancy, we strongly recommend leaving the component enabled.

SMTP settings

SMTP server address:

Enter the URL of the SMTP server.

SSL:

By default, this is enabled. Clicking the tick will disable the use of encryption (SSL). When you disable SSL, the SMTP port changes automatically.

SMTP port:

Enter the port of the SMTP server. The range is between 25 and 65535.

Authentication:

This is disabled by default; you will not need a username and password to log in. Ticking the box enables authentication.

Authentication enabled?

  • Enter the SMTP server username.
  • Enter the SMTP server password.

Reset to Adésys SMTP server

  • Go to Settings.
  • In the navigation, scroll to Email.
  • Click Edit.
  • Under SMTP server, select Octalarm Portal.
  • Click Save.
  • Take out an Octalarm Connect service subscription. See Octalarm Connect for more information and read how to activate this additional service.
