The alarm dialler can send Email notifications via the mobile internet and Ethernet connection.

Activating the supplied SIM card

To use the GSM module, activate the SIM card provided during onboarding. This enables you to subscribe to the Octalarm Connect service. Alternatively, you may choose a VoIP-only subscription.

Good to know: If you did not select Octalarm Connect during onboarding, you can still activate this service via Settings | Octalarm Connect or through Remote setup. See The portal: portal.octalarm.com | Remote setup (global) and Remote setup (local) for further explanation.

When using Octalarm Connect, the SMTP server is set to Octalarm Portal by default.

Using your own SMTP server

If you do not wish to set up your own SMTP server, you can skip this section.

  • Open Settings.
  • Select Email in the navigation menu.
  • Click Edit and complete the fields below.
  • Click Save.

Component

This component is enabled by default. Click the tick to disable the Email component. If disabled, the dialler will no longer send Email notifications.

Tip: To maintain redundancy, we strongly recommend leaving the component enabled.

SMTP settings

Select Own SMTP server and enter the details provided by your system administrator.

SMTP server address

Enter the hostname of the SMTP server.

SMTP port

Enter the port number for the SMTP server (range: 25–65535).

Encryption

By default, encryption is set to None. Select the desired encryption: SSL or STARTTLS.

Authentication
Sender email and sender name

Enter the email address and name of the sender.

Authentication

Authentication is disabled by default; you do not need a username or password to log in. Tick the box to enable authentication.

Username and password

If authentication is enabled, enter the username and password for the SMTP server.

Resetting to the Adésys SMTP server

  • Go to Settings and scroll to Interfaces.
  • Select Email.
  • Click Edit and, under SMTP settings / SMTP server, select Octalarm Portal.
  • Click Save.
  • Take out an Octalarm Connect service subscription. See Octalarm Connect for more information and instructions on how to activate this service.
