Remote setup (local)
Good to know: Octalarm alarm diallers have a special feature for remote configuration within the local network. This feature is FREE to use.
Note: Connect the alarm dialler to the company network via the UTP port and enable the web portal. See Settings | Interfaces | Web portal for further instructions.
How local remote setup works
You can easily configure an alarm dialler within the company network online using a web browser:
- On the alarm dialler, go to
Settings|General|System informationand note the IP address. - Enter this IP address in a web browser connected to the same network. The dashboard will appear.
- Click on
Loginin the navigation menu. - Enter your user name and password (you are connecting directly to the dialler).
You can directly change settings on the alarm dialler. Click the Octalarm logo or Dashboard in the main menu to return to the home screen.
Note: Before using local remote setup, check the following:
- Is the mobile connection stable?
Make sure the mobile network displays at least one bar (top left on the display). If not, consider using an external antenna, such as the Adésys AA-109 (10m) or AA-119 (20m).- Does the Octalarm alarm dialler have access to the network?
Ensure the wired network has the correct firewall settings. See Firewall company network and consult your system administrator if required.- Does the alarm dialler receive an IP address?
If not, check the router or switch, or possibly adjust the duplex speed. See Settings | Interfaces | Ethernet eth0.
Good to know: Local remote setup functions in exactly the same way as setup on the dialler itself. See Settings for more information.
