Use the PSTN socket on the alarm dialler to connect an analogue line.

Note: We do not recommend using an ATA (Analogue Telephone Adaptor). If you do connect an ATA, the line voltage may give a false reading.

Customising PSTN settings

  1. Go to Settings and scroll to Interfaces.
  2. Select PSTN.
  3. Click Edit and adjust the settings as described below.
  4. Click Save.

Explanation of input fields

(Left-hand side)

Component

This component is enabled by default. Click the tick to disable the PSTN component. If disabled, the dialler will no longer send alarms via PSTN.

Tip: To maintain redundancy, we strongly recommend keeping the component enabled.

Prefix number

If you need to use a prefix to dial out via an analogue connection on an on-site PBX, you can add a prefix to all phone numbers here.

Wait for dial-tone

This setting is enabled by default. If you clear the tick, the system will not wait for a dial-tone before starting the voice call.

Check line

This setting is enabled by default. It protects the PSTN connection by monitoring the line voltage and generating a system failure message if necessary. If you clear the tick, you disable the security message and the dialler will no longer check the PSTN connection.

Good to Know: The dialler generates a security message after 5 minutes without power on the line. If you disconnect the cable during testing, you will receive a system failure message only after 5 minutes.
